Narrative:
Late arrival at the end of a long day. VFR conditions. Vectored for visual final runway 16 ric. High when cleared for visual, and tight with runway. I was busy getting configured in order to get down, and understood richmond approach to clear us for the visual approach runway 16, cleared to land. As it was late (almost XA00) this didn't seem unusual. I asked the first officer on short final if we were cleared to land and he replied yes. After landing rollout, we called approach for taxi instructions due to intersecting runway and numerous taxiway closures. No reply. Switched to tower frequency and received reply. First officer said to tower that he thought we were to stay with approach, to which tower replied 'no problem. Taxi to ramp.' I'm still unclr whether or not an explicit clearance to land was ever issued to us. There were no conflicts with other traffic.

I ASKED THE FO ON SHORT FINAL IF WE WERE CLRED TO LAND AND HE REPLIED YES. AFTER LNDG ROLLOUT, WE CALLED APCH FOR TAXI INSTRUCTIONS DUE TO INTERSECTING RWY AND NUMEROUS TXWY CLOSURES. NO REPLY. SWITCHED TO TWR FREQ AND RECEIVED REPLY. FO SAID TO TWR THAT HE THOUGHT WE WERE TO STAY WITH APCH, TO WHICH TWR REPLIED 'NO PROB. TAXI TO RAMP.' I'M STILL UNCLR WHETHER OR NOT AN EXPLICIT CLRNC TO LAND WAS EVER ISSUED TO US. THERE WERE NO CONFLICTS WITH OTHER TFC.
