Narrative:
While on a vector to intercept the localizer 27 approach at san airport, we responded to a TCASII RA. We were instructed to climb, and did so until clear of conflict. We climbed from 5000 ft MSL to approximately 6200 ft MSL before leveling off. We informed ATC of the RA. We were then revectored around for another approach. This all occurred in IMC. No further conflict was experienced. Normal approach and landing.
