Narrative:
With approximately 3 hours off of full tanks, the engine quit due to fuel starvation. A landing was made approximately 1500 ft from the end of runway 21 at 3i7 in an open field. Unknown to me, fuel was escaping from a defective gasket on the top side of the wing, causing early fuel starvation.

Title: C172 PLT LANDED OFF ARPT AFTER THE ENG QUIT DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. NO DAMAGE TO ACFT OR OCCUPANTS.
Narrative: WITH APPROX 3 HRS OFF OF FULL TANKS, THE ENG QUIT DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. A LNDG WAS MADE APPROX 1500 FT FROM THE END OF RWY 21 AT 3I7 IN AN OPEN FIELD. UNKNOWN TO ME, FUEL WAS ESCAPING FROM A DEFECTIVE GASKET ON THE TOP SIDE OF THE WING, CAUSING EARLY FUEL STARVATION.
