Narrative:

After reaching FL350, the first officer welcomed passenger aboard giving lax WX, time of arrival, and the importance of observing the fasten seatbelt sign. During the first hour of cruise, the seatbelt sign was turned on several times due to moderate chop. The turbulence between bdf and dsm was continuous light with no reports of moderate. 15 mi west of dsm, we encountered severe turbulence. The aircraft rolled left to right, right to left several times reaching bank angles of 45 degrees and returning to level flight within 5-15 seconds. Airspeed fluctuated +/-15 KTS. No noticeable g-forces or altdevs were noticed.
