Narrative:
Unknown to us, the autoplt descended from the navigation mode and turned the aircraft left of course. It was in about a 3 degree left bank, so it wasn't apparent to us until the controller asked us where we were going. We explained what had happened, and he reclred us on course.

Title: INADVERTENT DISCONNECT OF THE AUTOPLT FROM THE NAV MODE RESULTS IN A VERY SLOW TURN THAT IS NOT NOTED BY THE CREW UNTIL ARTCC QUESTIONS WHERE THEY ARE GOING.
Narrative: UNKNOWN TO US, THE AUTOPLT DSNDED FROM THE NAV MODE AND TURNED THE ACFT L OF COURSE. IT WAS IN ABOUT A 3 DEG L BANK, SO IT WASN'T APPARENT TO US UNTIL THE CTLR ASKED US WHERE WE WERE GOING. WE EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED, AND HE RECLRED US ON COURSE.
