Narrative:
Just after takeoff, I heard a loud bang and felt a thud. The loud grinding noise continued for the mins it took for us to get clearance to return and land back in dallas where we had taken off from -- approximately 10 mins before the engine failure occurred. The captain advised to #1 flight attendant to give PA stating we were ok and would be returning to dallas to change aircraft. Passenger remained calm. Flight attendants did safety check and returned to jump seats for landing. Aircraft landed without incident.
