Narrative:
We were flying the mitts 1 arrival for lax approaching mitts, descending to 10000 ft. A DC10 was approaching arnes intersection also at 10000 ft on the civet 4 arrival. He was apparently intercepting on the 277 degree radial from pdz VOR. We saw him coming from our left and saw that he was getting closer. As I was about to have the first officer ask ATC about him, we got a climb RA which we followed. We informed ATC and he said that the other aircraft had us in sight. We don't know if this happened because he was intercepting at that angle or if he had overshot the localizer. After landing, I called the ATC supervisor and he said he had not heard of this occurrence. He said that the controller probably should have staggered the 2 aircraft or had one of us stay at a higher altitude and that he would speak to him about it. I also called the duty flight manager and he suggested I file this report and send an e-note. We did not seem closer than 1.5 mi at our closest point.

Title: B767 ON LAX MITTS STAR EXECUTED TCASII RA DUE TO SAME ALT CONFLICTING DC10.
Narrative: WE WERE FLYING THE MITTS 1 ARR FOR LAX APCHING MITTS, DSNDING TO 10000 FT. A DC10 WAS APCHING ARNES INTXN ALSO AT 10000 FT ON THE CIVET 4 ARR. HE WAS APPARENTLY INTERCEPTING ON THE 277 DEG RADIAL FROM PDZ VOR. WE SAW HIM COMING FROM OUR L AND SAW THAT HE WAS GETTING CLOSER. AS I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE THE FO ASK ATC ABOUT HIM, WE GOT A CLB RA WHICH WE FOLLOWED. WE INFORMED ATC AND HE SAID THAT THE OTHER ACFT HAD US IN SIGHT. WE DON'T KNOW IF THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE HE WAS INTERCEPTING AT THAT ANGLE OR IF HE HAD OVERSHOT THE LOC. AFTER LNDG, I CALLED THE ATC SUPVR AND HE SAID HE HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS OCCURRENCE. HE SAID THAT THE CTLR PROBABLY SHOULD HAVE STAGGERED THE 2 ACFT OR HAD ONE OF US STAY AT A HIGHER ALT AND THAT HE WOULD SPEAK TO HIM ABOUT IT. I ALSO CALLED THE DUTY FLT MGR AND HE SUGGESTED I FILE THIS RPT AND SEND AN E-NOTE. WE DID NOT SEEM CLOSER THAN 1.5 MI AT OUR CLOSEST POINT.
