Narrative:

We were approaching the coast from maui on an all-nighter and were cleared to 8000 ft. I was flying the aircraft and was distraction by general cockpit duties and overlooked the 10000 ft slow-down as we came close to the coast. The controller asked our speed and we said we were slowing. We simply allowed fatigue and normal cockpit duties to cause us to overlook the slow-down point. We slowed immediately to below 250 KTS at approximately the coastline.
