Narrative:
As PIC of flight XXX, I filed a VFR flight following direct to dallas love. As I was about 70 mi northeast of houston I had noticed some electrical problem, the lights got dim and my VOR and DME signals were going off and on and I lost my #1 radio. I called approach but no one could hear me. I then turned to #2 radio and faintly received hobby approach but I could not hear him very clearly. I told him of my condition that I was unable to hear him and I was having radio, electrical problems, but I can maintain VFR and proceed onto dallas. A min after my transmission, the entire cockpit panel went crazy. There were lights flashing everywhere, then suddenly I lost everything. I had lost full electrical power. I tried the emergency back-up electrical but nothing happened. The cockpit was pitch black. I could not see anything. I had my flashlight but it was not much of help for me to see things fully in the cockpit. I was about 5 mi south of culter field near college station, so I was going to land there. I tried to bring the landing gear down, but nothing happened. I tried to hand crank it, but it was very dark, and hard to fly the plane and when hand cranking it, nothing happened. I landed the plane gear up. I skidded a little then the plane stopped in the middle of runway 4. There was smoke a little. I got out of the plane and called my company. I remember 2 days before I told the mechanic at houston hobby I was having problems with the lights on the panel, they would go off and on sometimes in the same airplane I had the incident in. The mechanic also told me that other pilots said the plane I was flying had electrical problems. I feel perhaps the mechanic did not check what I told him about the lights very carefully, that could be a factor.

THE MECH ALSO TOLD ME THAT OTHER PLTS SAID THE PLANE I WAS FLYING HAD ELECTRICAL PROBS. I FEEL PERHAPS THE MECH DID NOT CHK WHAT I TOLD HIM ABOUT THE LIGHTS VERY CAREFULLY, THAT COULD BE A FACTOR.
