Narrative:
On landing at ord, we were asked or told to exit on runway 18 (we had landed on runway 9L). The next red sign we saw was for runway 14. An MD80 was cleared to cross runway 9L. The controller was able to get the MD80 to stop and we exited onto runway 14 with no further problems. The crew feels that we were past runway 18 before we were asked or told to exit other.
