Narrative:
Upon entry to degree airport traffic pattern, the left main gear light failed to illuminate after the gear handle was put into the down position. After notifying tower of the indicator failure, I requested a low approach to runway 33 to visually verify. After the low approach, the tower claimed that the gear did not appear locked. Tower recommended to recycle gear. Left main gear light went on after gear recycling. I requested a second low approach and was cleared runway 33. Tower again stated that the gear did not appear locked and asked if I wanted to roll the equipment. Even though I had 3 positive lights, I asked for the emergency equipment. I proceeded to land uneventfully. The cause of this problem was a faulty light bulb. I believe that rolling equipment was the prudent action based on tower's visual operations and safety of flight.

Title: A GA7 PLT DECLARED AN EMER AT DTW WHEN TWR STATED HIS L MAIN GEAR DID NOT APPEAR LOCKED DOWN.
Narrative: UPON ENTRY TO DEG ARPT TFC PATTERN, THE L MAIN GEAR LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE AFTER THE GEAR HANDLE WAS PUT INTO THE DOWN POS. AFTER NOTIFYING TWR OF THE INDICATOR FAILURE, I REQUESTED A LOW APCH TO RWY 33 TO VISUALLY VERIFY. AFTER THE LOW APCH, THE TWR CLAIMED THAT THE GEAR DID NOT APPEAR LOCKED. TWR RECOMMENDED TO RECYCLE GEAR. L MAIN GEAR LIGHT WENT ON AFTER GEAR RECYCLING. I REQUESTED A SECOND LOW APCH AND WAS CLRED RWY 33. TWR AGAIN STATED THAT THE GEAR DID NOT APPEAR LOCKED AND ASKED IF I WANTED TO ROLL THE EQUIP. EVEN THOUGH I HAD 3 POSITIVE LIGHTS, I ASKED FOR THE EMER EQUIP. I PROCEEDED TO LAND UNEVENTFULLY. THE CAUSE OF THIS PROB WAS A FAULTY LIGHT BULB. I BELIEVE THAT ROLLING EQUIP WAS THE PRUDENT ACTION BASED ON TWR'S VISUAL OPS AND SAFETY OF FLT.
