Narrative:

While taxiing to runway 30L for takeoff I reached up to turn on the ignition and hit the start valve for starting the #1 engine. I did this just as I was approaching taxiway a from taxiway C. I should have turned left on taxiway a to go to runway 30L. I had written down 30 from the ATIS, I acknowledged the clearance to taxi to runway 30L but at taxiway a, I turned right toward runway 12R. Tower called and told us I went the wrong way and cleared us on to runway 4/22 to join taxiway H to rejoin taxiway a to runway 30L. I let the first officer start the left engine alone and taxied uneventfully to runway 30L. I'm sure we didn't enter runway 22/4 without permission but it all happened at the same time. Runway 4/22 was closed at the time.
