Narrative:
It was raining hard when we took off in ama. Water got in engine. During flight we waited for captain to tell us ok to get up. Heard noise like engine failing, and then revving up -- this about 4 times -- didn't call because we knew guys were busy. They called us with 3 chimes and told us having engine problems would divert to wichita falls in 15 mins, no need to evacuate/evacuation. 'Did we have a PA for that?' he asked. We said we had planned emergency checklist. Flight attendant #2 and I went through it completely. Got assistants for doors and windows, landed without incident/evacuate/evacuation with 1 engine. Bussed folks to dfw for connections. Maintenance flew in from dallas to take a look at engine. We had 3 kids stay with us -- 2 kids (brother aged 11 and 12) and 1 unaccompanied minor (age 12). 4 hours later we flew back to dallas with kids. Problem was this: water in engine fan blades turned to ice in clouds. Captain tried to spin it off by revving engine. It was ok once it thawed and dried up.
