Narrative:
While returning to anc zan heard us attempt to contact a large aircraft ahead of and 1000 ft above us. Zan informed us that they were on a different zan frequency. This is in an area where you are in and out of zan radio contact. We raised the other aircraft on the zan frequency and asked them to contact us on interplane common 123.45 frequency. They answered us on zan frequency and instead of insisting that they switch to 123.45, I discussed our non-operational question (jumpseating) on zan frequency. I thought that since I was not in radio contact with zan, that I would not be disrupting any other aircraft communicating with zan, but an aircraft approximately 200 mi behind us loudly complained on zan frequency for us to switch to 123.45 because we were making it impossible for them to communication with zan. In retrospect, I should have insisted that the other aircraft switch to 123.45 instead of garbaging-up zan frequency.
