Narrative:
Landed runway 22 at el paso. On landing rollout during a critical phase of flight at high speed, we were given instructions from tower to hold short of taxiway east. I acknowledged the clearance. However, my response was more of a reaction than a confirmation. Taxiway east is actually located on the runway approximately 1000 ft from the end of runway 22. By the time we slowed the aircraft to a safe taxi speed, we had passed taxiway east. We then proceeded to turn off the runway at taxiway D to clear the active runway. Apparently, this clearance was given to us for simultaneous landing traffic to runway 26L. Once we were at a safe taxi speed and able to analyze our clearance more carefully is when we realized our mistake.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN S80 FLT PASSES TXWY E WHERE THEY HAD BEEN INSTRUCTED BY ATC TO HOLD SHORT DURING THEIR LNDG ON RWY 22 AT ELP, TX.
Narrative: LANDED RWY 22 AT EL PASO. ON LNDG ROLLOUT DURING A CRITICAL PHASE OF FLT AT HIGH SPD, WE WERE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS FROM TWR TO HOLD SHORT OF TXWY E. I ACKNOWLEDGED THE CLRNC. HOWEVER, MY RESPONSE WAS MORE OF A REACTION THAN A CONFIRMATION. TXWY E IS ACTUALLY LOCATED ON THE RWY APPROX 1000 FT FROM THE END OF RWY 22. BY THE TIME WE SLOWED THE ACFT TO A SAFE TAXI SPD, WE HAD PASSED TXWY E. WE THEN PROCEEDED TO TURN OFF THE RWY AT TXWY D TO CLR THE ACTIVE RWY. APPARENTLY, THIS CLRNC WAS GIVEN TO US FOR SIMULTANEOUS LNDG TFC TO RWY 26L. ONCE WE WERE AT A SAFE TAXI SPD AND ABLE TO ANALYZE OUR CLRNC MORE CAREFULLY IS WHEN WE REALIZED OUR MISTAKE.
