Narrative:

Captain missed altitude restr of 11000 ft at pvd (crossing). Bos approach deleted ATC crossing restr (that was issued by ZBW). Captain was slow in reacting to the automation, which did not update crossing data before restr could have been made by the FMC. Captain should have started descent manually, prior to programming automation.

Title: CAPT FLYING FAILED TO MAKE XING RESTR.

Narrative: CAPT MISSED ALT RESTR OF 11000 FT AT PVD (XING). BOS APCH DELETED ATC XING RESTR (THAT WAS ISSUED BY ZBW). CAPT WAS SLOW IN REACTING TO THE AUTOMATION, WHICH DID NOT UPDATE XING DATA BEFORE RESTR COULD HAVE BEEN MADE BY THE FMC. CAPT SHOULD HAVE STARTED DSCNT MANUALLY, PRIOR TO PROGRAMMING AUTOMATION.
