Narrative:
Climbing through 10.0 noticed aircraft on TCASII 500 ft above us. Shallowed climb then received TA followed by a 'descend' RA. Descended through 10000 ft and exceeded 250 KTS in the descent. No visual obtained on other aircraft. TCASII indicated a 300 ft separation. Queried ATC (ord departure) about airplane. He indicated that he had him on radar the whole time and didn't point him out. We were cleared to 17000 ft.
