Narrative:
I was on a training flight with a student from toa to ccd. I noticed my student was about to encroach on class C airspace. I should have turned the plane but I thought I could get clearance in time. By mistake I called van nuys tower for clearance. They gave me clearance through their airspace and I had thought they work clearance through the class C. I might have caught all of this but my student became very defensive and demanded an explanation. As I was talking to my student tower came back and informed me I was inside class C and that I should descend to 2500 ft from 4500 ft. At this point my student is demanding to know what's wrong. After stopping him from talking to me I am finally able to call tower and get through to explain what I had done wrong. I should have had more control over my flight. I am sorry.
