Narrative:
On the dawn of aug/wed/01, my student and I were taxiing on lakeland linder regional airport. As the instructor, I thought that the airport was not controled because we started taxiing prior to XA00 and there is a temporary control tower on the airport. The flight was a training flight to venice municipal airport for completion of my student's private pilot requirements. After the appropriate preflight action, I decided to taxi to runway 5 under the CTAF frequency 124.50 MHZ, thinking that the airport was closed for tower operations. After taxiing to the run-up area and performing the engine checks, we proceeded to runway 5 and hold short of this runway. While holding I heard a transmission on the frequency and I checked if the tower was opened. After reporting to tower our position on the ground the controller told us that they were trying to reach us on the frequency, but since we did not hear any calls for us I never answered back or replied any calls. After this he told us to be more careful when taxiing on uncontrolled surfaces and he cleared us for takeoff on our intended departure runway, and told us to call them when we got back from the flight.

Title: CESSNA 152 INSTRUCTOR PLT, WITH STUDENT, TAXIED OUT FOR TKOF MONITORING UNICOM BECAUSE THEY THOUGHT THE TWR HAD NOT OPENED. AFTER HOLDING OFF THE RWY DURING RUN-UP, THE INSTRUCTOR HEARD THE TWR CTLR AND CONTACTED THEM FOR TKOF CLRNC.
Narrative: ON THE DAWN OF AUG/WED/01, MY STUDENT AND I WERE TAXIING ON LAKELAND LINDER REGIONAL ARPT. AS THE INSTRUCTOR, I THOUGHT THAT THE ARPT WAS NOT CTLED BECAUSE WE STARTED TAXIING PRIOR TO XA00 AND THERE IS A TEMPORARY CTL TWR ON THE ARPT. THE FLT WAS A TRAINING FLT TO VENICE MUNICIPAL ARPT FOR COMPLETION OF MY STUDENT'S PVT PLT REQUIREMENTS. AFTER THE APPROPRIATE PREFLT ACTION, I DECIDED TO TAXI TO RWY 5 UNDER THE CTAF FREQ 124.50 MHZ, THINKING THAT THE ARPT WAS CLOSED FOR TWR OPS. AFTER TAXIING TO THE RUN-UP AREA AND PERFORMING THE ENG CHKS, WE PROCEEDED TO RWY 5 AND HOLD SHORT OF THIS RWY. WHILE HOLDING I HEARD A XMISSION ON THE FREQ AND I CHKED IF THE TWR WAS OPENED. AFTER RPTING TO TWR OUR POS ON THE GND THE CTLR TOLD US THAT THEY WERE TRYING TO REACH US ON THE FREQ, BUT SINCE WE DID NOT HEAR ANY CALLS FOR US I NEVER ANSWERED BACK OR REPLIED ANY CALLS. AFTER THIS HE TOLD US TO BE MORE CAREFUL WHEN TAXIING ON UNCTLED SURFACES AND HE CLRED US FOR TKOF ON OUR INTENDED DEP RWY, AND TOLD US TO CALL THEM WHEN WE GOT BACK FROM THE FLT.
