Narrative:
Holding short of runway 14/19 on taxiway Y at sts. Switched to tower. They asked if I was ready to go. I told them to give me 1 min so I could finish my checklist. The plane was empty. I had just completed a drop-off at sts, so there was no time pressure. I had just finished my checklist and barely reviewed the published departure when I was cleared for takeoff. I quickly turned onto the nearest runway which was runway 14, even though I was cleared for runway 19! I had barely started my takeoff roll when the tower told me to abort. As I did, the 'light bulb' went off -- was I embarrassed. I was reclred for takeoff on runway 19 and the rest of the flight back to oak was uneventful. I had flown out of this airport many times as a commuter airline pilot -- no excuse. Contributing factors: 1) flying a 'dog' the previous 4 days. Had a 13 hour day with 10.8 hours of flight time the day before and did not catch up on my sleep until several days later. 2) still refamiliarizing myself with the C425. 3) pressure -- many jet arrs for bohemian grove event -- didn't think I'd get a chance for a long time if I didn't take this opportunity. 4) not thorough enough review of published departure -- was still thinking about it when cleared for takeoff.

Title: SINGLE PLT IN C425 AT STS LINES UP AND STARTS TKOF ON WRONG RWY.
Narrative: HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 14/19 ON TXWY Y AT STS. SWITCHED TO TWR. THEY ASKED IF I WAS READY TO GO. I TOLD THEM TO GIVE ME 1 MIN SO I COULD FINISH MY CHKLIST. THE PLANE WAS EMPTY. I HAD JUST COMPLETED A DROP-OFF AT STS, SO THERE WAS NO TIME PRESSURE. I HAD JUST FINISHED MY CHKLIST AND BARELY REVIEWED THE PUBLISHED DEP WHEN I WAS CLRED FOR TKOF. I QUICKLY TURNED ONTO THE NEAREST RWY WHICH WAS RWY 14, EVEN THOUGH I WAS CLRED FOR RWY 19! I HAD BARELY STARTED MY TKOF ROLL WHEN THE TWR TOLD ME TO ABORT. AS I DID, THE 'LIGHT BULB' WENT OFF -- WAS I EMBARRASSED. I WAS RECLRED FOR TKOF ON RWY 19 AND THE REST OF THE FLT BACK TO OAK WAS UNEVENTFUL. I HAD FLOWN OUT OF THIS ARPT MANY TIMES AS A COMMUTER AIRLINE PLT -- NO EXCUSE. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: 1) FLYING A 'DOG' THE PREVIOUS 4 DAYS. HAD A 13 HR DAY WITH 10.8 HRS OF FLT TIME THE DAY BEFORE AND DID NOT CATCH UP ON MY SLEEP UNTIL SEVERAL DAYS LATER. 2) STILL REFAMILIARIZING MYSELF WITH THE C425. 3) PRESSURE -- MANY JET ARRS FOR BOHEMIAN GROVE EVENT -- DIDN'T THINK I'D GET A CHANCE FOR A LONG TIME IF I DIDN'T TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY. 4) NOT THOROUGH ENOUGH REVIEW OF PUBLISHED DEP -- WAS STILL THINKING ABOUT IT WHEN CLRED FOR TKOF.
