Narrative:
Departed and during climb out at approximately 13000 ft, I lost the left hydraulic system fluid. All appropriate QRH and checklist procedures were accomplished. A loud noise was heard by passenger and cabin crew about the time of system failure. I felt the safest course of action was to land as soon as possible. I declared an emergency due to an overweight landing situation (213000 pounds). ATC was very helpful and accommodating. Landing on runway 18R at mco was normal and uneventful. To continue in this situation to destination for another 4 1/2 hours flying time seemed to me a bad judgement call. Therefore, I elected to land nearby at mco.

Title: B757-200 FLC DECLARED AN EMER AND DIVERTED TO ANOTHER ARPT DURING CLBOUT WHEN THEY NOTICED LOSING ALL THE FLUID IN THE L HYD SYS.
Narrative: DEPARTED AND DURING CLBOUT AT APPROX 13000 FT, I LOST THE L HYD SYS FLUID. ALL APPROPRIATE QRH AND CHKLIST PROCS WERE ACCOMPLISHED. A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD BY PAX AND CABIN CREW ABOUT THE TIME OF SYS FAILURE. I FELT THE SAFEST COURSE OF ACTION WAS TO LAND ASAP. I DECLARED AN EMER DUE TO AN OVERWT LNDG SIT (213000 LBS). ATC WAS VERY HELPFUL AND ACCOMMODATING. LNDG ON RWY 18R AT MCO WAS NORMAL AND UNEVENTFUL. TO CONTINUE IN THIS SIT TO DEST FOR ANOTHER 4 1/2 HRS FLYING TIME SEEMED TO ME A BAD JUDGEMENT CALL. THEREFORE, I ELECTED TO LAND NEARBY AT MCO.
