Narrative:

We were marshalled to parking at the gate by a guideman who signaled me to start the APU just as I was approaching the stop point. I stopped the aircraft when I was given the stop signal and proceeded to apply the parking brake. I told the first officer to shut down the right engine as I waited for the APU generator to come on line. As I was turning off the seat belt sign, I noticed the aircraft moving forward and I aggressively applied the brakes and reapplied the parking brake. The mechanic plugged in and reported that no one was injured and there was no damage to the aircraft. Flight attendants also reported no injuries in the cabin. I always keep my feet resting on or near the brakes when parking.
