Narrative:

While making a right turn into the gate in maui, had to make an emergency stop to avoid a collision with the security truck. The truck approached us from behind on the right side and crossed in front of us as we made our right turn. The driver of the vehicle was totally unaware of our presence and was visibly startled when he noticed us stopped as he crossed approximately 15 ft in front of us. There is no doubt that there would have been a collision had we not stopped where we did. Ground control was not contacted as this incident occurred on the ramp. An irregularity report was filed.

Title: MLG CAPT CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP AFTER OBSERVING AN ARPT SECURITY TRUCK XING IN FRONT OF THE ACFT WHEN TURNING INTO HIS PARKING GATE WHEREIN THERE WAS NO TWR CTL.

Narrative: WHILE MAKING A R TURN INTO THE GATE IN MAUI, HAD TO MAKE AN EMER STOP TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH THE SECURITY TRUCK. THE TRUCK APCHED US FROM BEHIND ON THE R SIDE AND CROSSED IN FRONT OF US AS WE MADE OUR R TURN. THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY UNAWARE OF OUR PRESENCE AND WAS VISIBLY STARTLED WHEN HE NOTICED US STOPPED AS HE CROSSED APPROX 15 FT IN FRONT OF US. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A COLLISION HAD WE NOT STOPPED WHERE WE DID. GND CTL WAS NOT CONTACTED AS THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON THE RAMP. AN IRREGULARITY RPT WAS FILED.
