Narrative:
The morning of 9/thur/01 I called buffalo flight service approximately XA30 - XB00 am and inquired as to the status of the no-fly status due to the national emergency. I told the briefer that I wanted to move my baron from N66 to oic (oneonta to norwich, ny) a distance of approximately 20 NM. The purpose of the flight was for maintenance. I was told by the briefer that I could fly after xc am. I flew from N66 to oic at approximately XD00. We performed the maintenance on the aircraft and about XG00 pm I was told by the manager of oic that the FAA had called and I was to call FAA at bgm airport. I called bgm and discussed the incident with mr X who called buf FSS and verified I had called earlier in the morning. At no time did I intend not to comply with the no flight situation and would not have flown the aircraft if the FSS briefer had not misinformed me.
