Narrative:
Flight to cun, cleared by ZHU to deviate around buildups. When switched to meriad center (mexican airspace) still deviating and south of amipi on VB753, asked where we were going. Stated we were deviating around buildups. Then asked us to go direct mixum then cun. No conflict. Center said no problem.

Narrative: FLT TO CUN, CLRED BY ZHU TO DEVIATE AROUND BUILDUPS. WHEN SWITCHED TO MERIAD CTR (MEXICAN AIRSPACE) STILL DEVIATING AND S OF AMIPI ON VB753, ASKED WHERE WE WERE GOING. STATED WE WERE DEVIATING AROUND BUILDUPS. THEN ASKED US TO GO DIRECT MIXUM THEN CUN. NO CONFLICT. CTR SAID NO PROB.
