Narrative:
During climb, captain (mia based) made a PA announcing that we had had partial hydraulic failure and that we would be returning to jfk. He privately informed the #1 flight attendant that we would have a 'normal landing,' but that he was concerned about total hydraulic failure and that once on the ground, we would have to be towed in, emergency vehicles would meet us and the runway would be closed. This was all communicated through the #1 flight attendant. We landed without incident and had a normal deplaning after being towed to the gate. The captain told us that a hydraulic line had broken and we had lost hydraulic fuel (fluid).
