Narrative:
Landing, night VMC, full moon, calm. Student landed runway 32, rolled out. While still on runway, taxiing for midfield exit, a deer walked in front of the aircraft. Applied maximum braking. Propeller struck deer on spine ahead of rear haunches, severing spine and killing deer. Shut down aircraft and inspected for damage after clearing runway of carcass. No damage noted. Left aircraft at field for inspection by a&P and took taxi home. Recommendation: the AWOS had an alert for deer, but such alerts are extremely common this time of yr. Once the deer appeared visually in front of the aircraft (in the landing light beam) it was impossible to avoid. Turn down cockpit lights and use extreme vigilance.
