Problem: failed to switch from approach to tower prior to landing. Contributing factors: high and fast entering terminal area. Poor descent planning. Light airplane due to low passenger load resulting in low target final approach speed. Both pilots' attention focused on airplane slowing and configuring. Did not confirm switch to tower from approach.

Narrative: PROB: FAILED TO SWITCH FROM APCH TO TWR PRIOR TO LNDG. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: HIGH AND FAST ENTERING TERMINAL AREA. POOR DSCNT PLANNING.
