Narrative:

Crew showed to repos aircraft to a gate. After preflight and cockpit checks, the left engine was started for a single engine taxi. Upon advancing taxi power, the left engine flamed out. Upon checking the engine gauges, the egt was rising rapidly. When I looked out, several people were approaching the aircraft yelling 'fire' and pointing to the left engine. I observed smoke coming from the left engine. I notified our operations, told the first officer to exit and ran the engine fine memory items and exited the aircraft. Maintenance then arrived and took over the aircraft at that time. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the airplane was being taxied on 1 engine and when the thrust lever was advanced the engine flamed out. The reporter said on restart fuel had accumulated in the turbine section exhaust and was ignited. The reporter stated the engine was restarted normally and the fire blown out. The reporter said the engine was checked and no damage was incurred.
