Narrative:
Aircraft chkout for student who already had a gear violation at I69 had completed steep turns, slow flight, power-off stalls in practice area. After initial touch-and-go, was flying and describing demonstration noise abatement pattern. Pattern requires flap for climb, 150 degrees right turn over river at 250 ft AGL, no/very short downwind. Gumps was rushed, gear lever obviously not properly positioned from right seat. All other controls correct. Due to commentary on altitude/speed, gear lights not checked on final. Gear partly down by emergency system, no audible gear warning. Landed runway 8, slid to stop on runway centerline (180 degree turn at end). Do not instruct if you are not current in make and model -- not just type. Ensure noise abatement patterns are practical and don't cause rushing. Exercise 91.3 authority/authorized if necessary. Fly the plane first. Commenting for instruction is communication and should always be 3RD priority.
