Narrative:
Third aircraft was A-10 in formation. Departed bdl for bdr, runway 33. Climbed to 1000 ft AGL. Controller advised runway heading but he was tentative. Skywatch activated calling traffic. Changed to 2 NM range. Traffic at our location and same altitude, unseen. First A-10 went over from our 5 O'clock to 10 O'clock position. Second A-10 seen at our 2 O'clock position in a climbing right turn. Controller said nothing and shortly gave us a turn from 330 degrees to 095 degrees. When the controller gave us runway heading and was tentative, I told the second CFI not flying that 'something is wrong.'
