Narrative:
Departed runway 24L in lax, runway heading, cleared to 9000 ft, then turned to heading 310 degree and cleared to 13000 ft. ATC then called traffic at 1 O'clock, restricted above us. We saw the B737 visually and on TCAS at 1 O'clock and plus 1000 ft. Got a TCAS RA at that time and I disconnected autoplt, reduced power and leveled at 9500 ft MSL. Controller wondered why we were climbing and we reminded him that he cleared us to 13000 ft. He said ok, and no problem, the B737 had us in sight. Called socal approach upon arrival in boi, idaho. Controller said that no problem had been created by us, but that the controller 'jumped' the arrival by climbing us and that the B737 saw us and that the controller had been talked to.

Narrative: DEPARTED RWY 24L IN LAX, RWY HEADING, CLRED TO 9000 FT, THEN TURNED TO HEADING 310 DEG AND CLRED TO 13000 FT. ATC THEN CALLED TFC AT 1 O'CLOCK, RESTRICTED ABOVE US. WE SAW THE B737 VISUALLY AND ON TCAS AT 1 O'CLOCK AND PLUS 1000 FT. GOT A TCAS RA AT THAT TIME AND I DISCONNECTED AUTOPLT, REDUCED PWR AND LEVELED AT 9500 FT MSL. CTLR WONDERED WHY WE WERE CLBING AND WE REMINDED HIM THAT HE CLRED US TO 13000 FT. HE SAID OK, AND NO PROB, THE B737 HAD US IN SIGHT. CALLED SOCAL APCH UPON ARRIVAL IN BOI, IDAHO. CTLR SAID THAT NO PROB HAD BEEN CREATED BY US, BUT THAT THE CTLR 'JUMPED' THE ARRIVAL BY CLBING US AND THAT THE B737 SAW US AND THAT THE CTLR HAD BEEN TALKED TO.
