Narrative:
On dec/mon/2001 aircraft X departed sjc at XA45 and arrived at cyul XF05. It was night VFR with visibility greater than 5 miles. The runway that I lnded on was runway 24L. I exited the runway at A2. Aircraft X was then cleared to taxi via 'a' and 'A3' to the GA ramp and hold short of runway 24L. During the taxi on taxiway 'a' our right thrust reverser would not deploy after several attempts. (Normally used during taxi to slow down the aircraft.) this was now a no-go situation for our next scheduled departure of XG30. The third pilot that was sitting in the jump seat asked me for the cell phone that was on the captain's side console, so that he could call our main operations. I reached there but could not feel for it. Then there was some discussion between the 3 pilots on its location. Again the 3RD pilot asked for the phone. I had even said that I can't get it now because I was taxiing the aircraft, that I should stop, but by now the 3RD pilot had gotten the flashlight out so I went ahead and looked. The right turn from 'a' to A3 was a 135 degree turn and the hold line was within approximately a couple hundred ft instead of just before the runway. I passed the hold line and continued, as we got closer to the runway my copilot told me to stop. I did stop 50 to 100 ft short of the runway. At that time ground control came over the radio and asked if we were going to hold short. My copilot answered yes. Ground replied that you are past the hold line, and too close to the runway that I had to send an aircraft around. Both of us looked to the edge of the taxiway. We thought we saw a double yellow line, although it did not extend a cross the taxiway. I then asked my copilot if we could do 180 degree turn to get further away, but at that time I saw the aircraft about 800 ft overhead going around. My attention was diverted between the aircraft problem and the cell phone and not on taxiing the aircraft. I should have stopped the aircraft like I had said. I should have had better communication with my copilot. I also should have reviewed the taxi chart prior to landing, during our in range briefing.

THEN THERE WAS SOME DISCUSSION BETWEEN THE 3 PLTS ON ITS LOCATION. AGAIN THE 3RD PLT ASKED FOR THE PHONE. I HAD EVEN SAID THAT I CAN'T GET IT NOW BECAUSE I WAS TAXIING THE ACFT, THAT I SHOULD STOP, BUT BY NOW THE 3RD PLT HAD GOTTEN THE FLASHLIGHT OUT SO I WENT AHEAD AND LOOKED. THE RIGHT TURN FROM 'A' TO A3 WAS A 135 DEG TURN AND THE HOLD LINE WAS WITHIN APPROX A COUPLE HUNDRED FT INSTEAD OF JUST BEFORE THE RWY. I PASSED THE HOLD LINE AND CONTINUED, AS WE GOT CLOSER TO THE RWY MY COPLT TOLD ME TO STOP. I DID STOP 50 TO 100 FT SHORT OF THE RWY. AT THAT TIME GND CTL CAME OVER THE RADIO AND ASKED IF WE WERE GOING TO HOLD SHORT. MY COPLT ANSWERED YES. GND REPLIED THAT YOU ARE PAST THE HOLD LINE, AND TOO CLOSE TO THE RWY THAT I HAD TO SEND AN ACFT AROUND. BOTH OF US LOOKED TO THE EDGE OF THE TXWY. WE THOUGHT WE SAW A DOUBLE YELLOW LINE, ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT EXTEND A CROSS THE TXWY. I THEN ASKED MY COPLT IF WE COULD DO 180 DEG TURN TO GET FURTHER AWAY, BUT AT THAT TIME I SAW THE ACFT ABOUT 800 FT OVERHEAD GOING AROUND. MY ATTENTION WAS DIVERTED BTWN THE ACFT PROB AND THE CELL PHONE AND NOT ON TAXIING THE ACFT. I SHOULD HAVE STOPPED THE ACFT LIKE I HAD SAID. I SHOULD HAVE HAD BETTER COM WITH MY COPLT. I ALSO SHOULD HAVE REVIEWED THE TAXI CHART PRIOR TO LNDG, DURING OUR IN RANGE BRIEFING.
