Narrative:

When aircraft X called on, I stopped him at 15000 ft and issued traffic. I assigned aircraft X a heading that would establish lateral separation. Aircraft X reported traffic in sight. When I asked aircraft X if he could maintain visual separation from that traffic, aircraft X replied 'affirmative.' I then assigned aircraft X a higher altitude. Supplemental information from acn 532232: I was instructing a developmental radar controller. The CL60 was turned to begin to establish lateral separation. The CL60 reported the traffic. He was asked if he could maintain visual separation, he replied in the affirmative. Climb was issued.

Title: ZKC DEVELOPMENTAL ISSUES CLB CLRNC BEFORE ENSURING OTHER ACFT IS AWARE OF MEANS OF APPLIED SEPARATION.

Narrative: WHEN ACFT X CALLED ON, I STOPPED HIM AT 15000 FT AND ISSUED TFC. I ASSIGNED ACFT X A HEADING THAT WOULD ESTABLISH LATERAL SEPARATION. ACFT X RPTED TFC IN SIGHT. WHEN I ASKED ACFT X IF HE COULD MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION FROM THAT TFC, ACFT X REPLIED 'AFFIRMATIVE.' I THEN ASSIGNED ACFT X A HIGHER ALT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 532232: I WAS INSTRUCTING A DEVELOPMENTAL RADAR CTLR. THE CL60 WAS TURNED TO BEGIN TO ESTABLISH LATERAL SEPARATION. THE CL60 RPTED THE TFC. HE WAS ASKED IF HE COULD MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION, HE REPLIED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE. CLB WAS ISSUED.
