Narrative:
After pulling out of the cargo area we were told by ground to 'taxi to runway 26R hold short at dixie. I asked the captain if he knew where he was going and he responded yes. I began the taxi checklist and lost situation awareness of where we were on the field. As we were rolling to a stop during a short taxi we received turn left on 'a' taxi to runway 26R while I was reading the checklist. I responded and could not see the 'a' markings while the captain continued to taxi. I assumed 'a' was on the other side of the runway. After crossing, the controller informed us we had crossed the active runway. Factors include: non standard name of taxiway 'dixie,' faith on capts field knowledge, loss of situation awareness during short taxi and high workload.
