Narrative:
We left the deice pad and were told by tower that we were #1 for takeoff on runway 21, 'taxi into position and hold.' we taxied into position and after approximately 30 seconds, another aircraft was cleared into position for runway 21R and 'cleared for takeoff.' we stated we were already on the runway. Apparently the clearance was for the other runway (runway 21L). Tower told an aircraft on final to 'go around.' tower shortly apologized to the go around aircraft and to us for the confusion. As far as I can tell, it was a case of mistaking which aircraft was at the proper runway or just telling the right aircraft to take off on the wrong runway.

Title: B757 CREW WAS IN POS ON RWY 21R WHEN ANOTHER ACFT WAS ISSUED TKOF CLRNC ON THE SAME RWY AND AN ACFT ON FINAL WAS DIRECTED TO GO AROUND IN DTW.
Narrative: WE LEFT THE DEICE PAD AND WERE TOLD BY TWR THAT WE WERE #1 FOR TKOF ON RWY 21, 'TAXI INTO POS AND HOLD.' WE TAXIED INTO POS AND AFTER APPROX 30 SECONDS, ANOTHER ACFT WAS CLRED INTO POS FOR RWY 21R AND 'CLRED FOR TKOF.' WE STATED WE WERE ALREADY ON THE RWY. APPARENTLY THE CLRNC WAS FOR THE OTHER RWY (RWY 21L). TWR TOLD AN ACFT ON FINAL TO 'GO AROUND.' TWR SHORTLY APOLOGIZED TO THE GAR ACFT AND TO US FOR THE CONFUSION. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL, IT WAS A CASE OF MISTAKING WHICH ACFT WAS AT THE PROPER RWY OR JUST TELLING THE RIGHT ACFT TO TAKE OFF ON THE WRONG RWY.
