Narrative:
On a repositioning flight from phx to ZZZ, I inadvertently entered ffz class D airspace. In doing so, a high wing cessna departing ffz to the west passed above my altitude by 500-1000 ft. When I arrived at ZZZ, the tower advised me the ffz tower had called them to let them know I had entered the edge of ffz class D airspace and came close to a cessna. When I was handed off from phx tower they advised me of the traffic. But I did not obtain visual contact of the traffic until it was over me. When I obtained clearance to depart the phx class B airspace from phx tower, I accepted a VFR departure procedure I was not very familiar with. I knew the procedure would take me close to ffz class D airspace and I should have done a better job familiarizing myself with the boundaries of the class D airspace or simply contacted ffz for clearance through their airspace. The procedure given to me was the most convenient and most time efficient, but I should have better familiarized myself with the procedure. I have now reviewed the procedure and now know how to avoid this situation.'535378 syn

Title: A PILATUS PC12 ATP PLT DEPARTING PHX FOR ZZZ EXPERIENCES AN NMAC WHEN PENETRATING THE CLASS D AIRSPACE OF FFZ, AZ.

WHEN I OBTAINED CLRNC TO DEPART THE PHX CLASS B AIRSPACE FROM PHX TWR, I ACCEPTED A VFR DEP PROC I WAS NOT VERY FAMILIAR WITH. I KNEW THE PROC WOULD TAKE ME CLOSE TO FFZ CLASS D AIRSPACE AND I SHOULD HAVE DONE A BETTER JOB FAMILIARIZING MYSELF WITH THE BOUNDARIES OF THE CLASS D AIRSPACE OR SIMPLY CONTACTED FFZ FOR CLRNC THROUGH THEIR AIRSPACE. THE PROC GIVEN TO ME WAS THE MOST CONVENIENT AND MOST TIME EFFICIENT, BUT I SHOULD HAVE BETTER FAMILIARIZED MYSELF WITH THE PROC. I HAVE NOW REVIEWED THE PROC AND NOW KNOW HOW TO AVOID THIS SIT.'535378 SYN
