Narrative:
The following is a summary of the events which occurred at clemson oconee county airport on jan/tue/02 at approximately XA30 for a VFR departure. Winds were light and variable and conditions were clear with visibility greater than 20 mi. I made a taxi call and then taxied to the intersection nearest to end of runway 25. I looked in all directions and saw no traffic. The sun sets at approximately this time of day off the end of runway 25. I made a radio call before departure. I did not hear anyone else making departure radio calls. As I began rolling down the runway, another aircraft passed overhead. I would estimate the distance at approximately 150-200 ft above my position on the runway. After departure, I tried to contact the other pilot to explain that I had not heard his departure call. I also called the FBO at clemson on jan/wed/02 to explain the occurrence of this event. As you are aware, a new taxiway to runway 7 has been built. Traditionally, departure from runway 25 was safer and more convenient because no back-taxi was required. I do believe that the sun is an impediment to visualization of runway 25 at this time of day. If wind or other factors are not a consideration, it is my intention to use runway 7 at that time of day in the future.

Title: A GA PVT PLT HAS AN NMAC WITH ANOTHER GA ACFT, OPPOSITE DIRECTION TFC, ON AN OCCUPIED RWY AT A NON TWR ARPT, CEU, SC.
Narrative: THE FOLLOWING IS A SUMMARY OF THE EVENTS WHICH OCCURRED AT CLEMSON OCONEE COUNTY ARPT ON JAN/TUE/02 AT APPROX XA30 FOR A VFR DEP. WINDS WERE LIGHT AND VARIABLE AND CONDITIONS WERE CLR WITH VISIBILITY GREATER THAN 20 MI. I MADE A TAXI CALL AND THEN TAXIED TO THE INTXN NEAREST TO END OF RWY 25. I LOOKED IN ALL DIRECTIONS AND SAW NO TFC. THE SUN SETS AT APPROX THIS TIME OF DAY OFF THE END OF RWY 25. I MADE A RADIO CALL BEFORE DEP. I DID NOT HEAR ANYONE ELSE MAKING DEP RADIO CALLS. AS I BEGAN ROLLING DOWN THE RWY, ANOTHER ACFT PASSED OVERHEAD. I WOULD ESTIMATE THE DISTANCE AT APPROX 150-200 FT ABOVE MY POS ON THE RWY. AFTER DEP, I TRIED TO CONTACT THE OTHER PLT TO EXPLAIN THAT I HAD NOT HEARD HIS DEP CALL. I ALSO CALLED THE FBO AT CLEMSON ON JAN/WED/02 TO EXPLAIN THE OCCURRENCE OF THIS EVENT. AS YOU ARE AWARE, A NEW TXWY TO RWY 7 HAS BEEN BUILT. TRADITIONALLY, DEP FROM RWY 25 WAS SAFER AND MORE CONVENIENT BECAUSE NO BACK-TAXI WAS REQUIRED. I DO BELIEVE THAT THE SUN IS AN IMPEDIMENT TO VISUALIZATION OF RWY 25 AT THIS TIME OF DAY. IF WIND OR OTHER FACTORS ARE NOT A CONSIDERATION, IT IS MY INTENTION TO USE RWY 7 AT THAT TIME OF DAY IN THE FUTURE.
