Narrative:
I was landing at camarillo airport and I noticed that there were not a lot of people at that time. When I requested permissions to land I was cleared to land immediately even though I was far approaching. Also, I noticed that there were not many people on the radio frequency. We landed and the controller asked me to contact ground to taxi. I did and taxied back to runway 26 listening to the ground frequency. I noticed that there was a plane in the hold short area and passed it going to the hold short line. When I arrived to the hold short line, I switched to the tower and waited for a min or so. I was talking to my passenger and had no hurry to take off. At the same time, a plane was taking off. Suddenly, I heard somebody talking to the tower. I assumed that was the plane behind me (but do not remember if it was or not). So I hurried up and called the tower. The tower responded and I responded back. As I was preparing the plane for a position hold and moving towards the runway I saw a plane coming to land at about 1/2 a mi. So I stopped 1/2 the way to the runway and called the tower to check if she gave me a hold short or position hold instructions. I honestly do not remember and I stayed off the runway. I think I was about 10 yards from the runway. She asked me to go back behind the hold short line but I preferred to stay still because there was not much room to move back and also I thought that staying still was better for the coming plane. The controller asked the incoming plane to go around. I do not think the pilot even noticed me because I was not on the runway. It sounded that he did not know why. After the pilot went around I did my maneuver to get back behind the line. What caused the problem: I was distracted talking to my passenger and assumed that we were the only one at the airport. I think I did not pay enough attention. What can I do to prevent the problem: I think people tend to become comfortable and we do not pay as much attention during repetitive sits. I have to pay more attention. Also, I will instruct my passenger not to interfere with my flying.

Title: A C172 PLT, TAXIING FOR TKOF AT CMA, TAXIED PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE, REQUIRING A TWR INITIATED GAR TO LNDG TFC.
Narrative: I WAS LNDG AT CAMARILLO ARPT AND I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE NOT A LOT OF PEOPLE AT THAT TIME. WHEN I REQUESTED PERMISSIONS TO LAND I WAS CLRED TO LAND IMMEDIATELY EVEN THOUGH I WAS FAR APCHING. ALSO, I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE NOT MANY PEOPLE ON THE RADIO FREQ. WE LANDED AND THE CTLR ASKED ME TO CONTACT GND TO TAXI. I DID AND TAXIED BACK TO RWY 26 LISTENING TO THE GND FREQ. I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A PLANE IN THE HOLD SHORT AREA AND PASSED IT GOING TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE. WHEN I ARRIVED TO THE HOLD SHORT LINE, I SWITCHED TO THE TWR AND WAITED FOR A MIN OR SO. I WAS TALKING TO MY PAX AND HAD NO HURRY TO TAKE OFF. AT THE SAME TIME, A PLANE WAS TAKING OFF. SUDDENLY, I HEARD SOMEBODY TALKING TO THE TWR. I ASSUMED THAT WAS THE PLANE BEHIND ME (BUT DO NOT REMEMBER IF IT WAS OR NOT). SO I HURRIED UP AND CALLED THE TWR. THE TWR RESPONDED AND I RESPONDED BACK. AS I WAS PREPARING THE PLANE FOR A POS HOLD AND MOVING TOWARDS THE RWY I SAW A PLANE COMING TO LAND AT ABOUT 1/2 A MI. SO I STOPPED 1/2 THE WAY TO THE RWY AND CALLED THE TWR TO CHK IF SHE GAVE ME A HOLD SHORT OR POS HOLD INSTRUCTIONS. I HONESTLY DO NOT REMEMBER AND I STAYED OFF THE RWY. I THINK I WAS ABOUT 10 YARDS FROM THE RWY. SHE ASKED ME TO GO BACK BEHIND THE HOLD SHORT LINE BUT I PREFERRED TO STAY STILL BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT MUCH ROOM TO MOVE BACK AND ALSO I THOUGHT THAT STAYING STILL WAS BETTER FOR THE COMING PLANE. THE CTLR ASKED THE INCOMING PLANE TO GO AROUND. I DO NOT THINK THE PLT EVEN NOTICED ME BECAUSE I WAS NOT ON THE RWY. IT SOUNDED THAT HE DID NOT KNOW WHY. AFTER THE PLT WENT AROUND I DID MY MANEUVER TO GET BACK BEHIND THE LINE. WHAT CAUSED THE PROB: I WAS DISTRACTED TALKING TO MY PAX AND ASSUMED THAT WE WERE THE ONLY ONE AT THE ARPT. I THINK I DID NOT PAY ENOUGH ATTN. WHAT CAN I DO TO PREVENT THE PROB: I THINK PEOPLE TEND TO BECOME COMFORTABLE AND WE DO NOT PAY AS MUCH ATTN DURING REPETITIVE SITS. I HAVE TO PAY MORE ATTN. ALSO, I WILL INSTRUCT MY PAX NOT TO INTERFERE WITH MY FLYING.
