Narrative:
Blatantly false accusations regarding logbook and security bag match. Aircraft arrived late putting out flight preparations behind schedule. Additionally, late passenger and baggage connections delayed our flight departure. After guide man pushed our aircraft off gate, we were cleared to start engines. After left engine was started, aircraft brakes parked guide man disconnected. Right engine motored, but would not start, followed engine procedure for suspected ignition failure. Engine still did not start. I pulled and reset the right engine ignition circuit breaker switches. Right engine would not start in 1, 2, or ignition on both. Ramp demanded we taxi on 1 engine out of the way. I refused due to improper aircraft confign and thrust requirements with present takeoff weight. Guide man towed us back onto gate maintenance talked to us from the ground and said they were going to reseat the igniter box. Maintenance came up to cockpit. We discussed that we follow procedure outlined in our QRH and reset ignition circuit breakers to no avail. Right engine still would motor, but wouldn't light off. Maintenance directed us to start the right engine and it started. One maintenance person wrote the fix as 'crew reset ignition. Engine started normally.' another maintenance person shook his head and left the cockpit. I asked the mechanic writing in the logbook why he didn't report reseating the right engines igniter box and he replied how do you know about that. I told him that is what the guy that just left told us you were doing over the ground to cockpit interphone when we returned to the gate. I further stated that the engine didn't start after we reset the right engine ignition breakers. At this point the gate agent informed me of 2 passenger deplaning. Apparently, they always get off a flight if anything goes wrong at all. The agent stated that the passenger bags would have to be removed. I said to the agent the passenger didn't plan the mechanical, why can't the bags stay on so we can depart right now. The agent said it was positive bag match procedure and they could not deviate. I contacted my dispatcher for relief from having to remove the bags with regard to the mechanical and he supported my assessment that removing the bags wasn't necessary. Passenger service made the call to remove the bags no matter what. I am now home and get a message from my chief pilot as follows: 'delay states upon return to gate engine started. Captain had reset circuit breaker right maintenance off XA22, then required bag pull. 2 passenger chose to deplane.' where do these folks get off writing blatant lies like this? The logbook write-off and the passenger service report are completely false representations of what truly happened.

Title: B757-200 CREW WAS UNABLE TO GET #2 ENG STARTED AT DFW.
Narrative: BLATANTLY FALSE ACCUSATIONS REGARDING LOGBOOK AND SECURITY BAG MATCH. ACFT ARRIVED LATE PUTTING OUT FLT PREPARATIONS BEHIND SCHEDULE. ADDITIONALLY, LATE PAX AND BAGGAGE CONNECTIONS DELAYED OUR FLT DEP. AFTER GUIDE MAN PUSHED OUR ACFT OFF GATE, WE WERE CLRED TO START ENGS. AFTER L ENG WAS STARTED, ACFT BRAKES PARKED GUIDE MAN DISCONNECTED. R ENG MOTORED, BUT WOULD NOT START, FOLLOWED ENG PROC FOR SUSPECTED IGNITION FAILURE. ENG STILL DID NOT START. I PULLED AND RESET THE R ENG IGNITION CIRCUIT BREAKER SWITCHES. R ENG WOULD NOT START IN 1, 2, OR IGNITION ON BOTH. RAMP DEMANDED WE TAXI ON 1 ENG OUT OF THE WAY. I REFUSED DUE TO IMPROPER ACFT CONFIGN AND THRUST REQUIREMENTS WITH PRESENT TKOF WT. GUIDE MAN TOWED US BACK ONTO GATE MAINT TALKED TO US FROM THE GND AND SAID THEY WERE GOING TO RESEAT THE IGNITER BOX. MAINT CAME UP TO COCKPIT. WE DISCUSSED THAT WE FOLLOW PROC OUTLINED IN OUR QRH AND RESET IGNITION CIRCUIT BREAKERS TO NO AVAIL. R ENG STILL WOULD MOTOR, BUT WOULDN'T LIGHT OFF. MAINT DIRECTED US TO START THE R ENG AND IT STARTED. ONE MAINT PERSON WROTE THE FIX AS 'CREW RESET IGNITION. ENG STARTED NORMALLY.' ANOTHER MAINT PERSON SHOOK HIS HEAD AND LEFT THE COCKPIT. I ASKED THE MECH WRITING IN THE LOGBOOK WHY HE DIDN'T RPT RESEATING THE R ENGS IGNITER BOX AND HE REPLIED HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THAT. I TOLD HIM THAT IS WHAT THE GUY THAT JUST LEFT TOLD US YOU WERE DOING OVER THE GND TO COCKPIT INTERPHONE WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE GATE. I FURTHER STATED THAT THE ENG DIDN'T START AFTER WE RESET THE R ENG IGNITION BREAKERS. AT THIS POINT THE GATE AGENT INFORMED ME OF 2 PAX DEPLANING. APPARENTLY, THEY ALWAYS GET OFF A FLT IF ANYTHING GOES WRONG AT ALL. THE AGENT STATED THAT THE PAX BAGS WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED. I SAID TO THE AGENT THE PAX DIDN'T PLAN THE MECHANICAL, WHY CAN'T THE BAGS STAY ON SO WE CAN DEPART RIGHT NOW. THE AGENT SAID IT WAS POSITIVE BAG MATCH PROC AND THEY COULD NOT DEVIATE. I CONTACTED MY DISPATCHER FOR RELIEF FROM HAVING TO REMOVE THE BAGS WITH REGARD TO THE MECHANICAL AND HE SUPPORTED MY ASSESSMENT THAT REMOVING THE BAGS WASN'T NECESSARY. PAX SVC MADE THE CALL TO REMOVE THE BAGS NO MATTER WHAT. I AM NOW HOME AND GET A MESSAGE FROM MY CHIEF PLT AS FOLLOWS: 'DELAY STATES UPON RETURN TO GATE ENG STARTED. CAPT HAD RESET CIRCUIT BREAKER R MAINT OFF XA22, THEN REQUIRED BAG PULL. 2 PAX CHOSE TO DEPLANE.' WHERE DO THESE FOLKS GET OFF WRITING BLATANT LIES LIKE THIS? THE LOGBOOK WRITE-OFF AND THE PAX SVC RPT ARE COMPLETELY FALSE REPRESENTATIONS OF WHAT TRULY HAPPENED.
