Narrative:
As we pulled into the gate at atl, the aircraft struck the jetway with the #1 engine. The captain stopped the jet when the parking light system showed a red light. After several mins of sitting there with no one talking to us or the jetway moving toward the deplaning door, the captain opened his window to talk to the ground personnel. It was then that we were informed that the jetway had been struck by the #1 engine. After the aircraft and jetway were examined, the jetway was finally moved. There was a small scratch and dent on top of the #1 engine nacelle. On further observation and investigation, it was determined that the jetway was not parked in the proper place to receive our arrival. There was an agent in the jetway during our arrival.
