Narrative:
Flight attendants reported burning smell near coffee makers in first class galley. All cockpit members took turns investigating. Electrical burning was suspected. A decision was made to declare an emergency and divert to lhr where an uneventful overweight landing was made on runway 27R. All associated abnormal/emergency checklists were completed. Evidence of burnt wires was found in one of the coffee makers. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated the source of the burning smell was burned wiring in a coffee maker. The reporter said the ovens were not on when the smell was reported to the cockpit and the burning smell could only come from the coffee makers. The reporter stated no circuit breakers were tripped in this incident. The reporter stated 1 coffee maker was removed with evidence of burned wiring and the replacement operated normally with no smoke smell.
