Narrative:
Maintenance was already in work on this as turnover occurred in maintenance control. Contract maintenance called and was not having any luck fixing seat row 5XXX. Seat loose in track. I chose to use MEL 25-6 for the whole seat assembly. I learned after aircraft departure that this was incorrect. This is my error. I then made arrangements for san contract maintenance to fix and clear the MEL.
