Narrative:
Tower cleared us for takeoff on runway 12. I was pulling out of the run-up area trying to turn and look down final. As I pulled out and was able to turn, I saw a C172 over the numbers. I stopped and heard the landing aircraft ask tower why they cleared us for takeoff because he was 'over the numbers.' aircraft landed and we then departed without further event.

Title: PLT IN A C210 IS CLRED FOR TKOF AT BPT ARPT AND STOPPED WHEN HE OBSERVED A C172 OVER THE NUMBERS LNDG.
Narrative: TWR CLRED US FOR TKOF ON RWY 12. I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE RUN-UP AREA TRYING TO TURN AND LOOK DOWN FINAL. AS I PULLED OUT AND WAS ABLE TO TURN, I SAW A C172 OVER THE NUMBERS. I STOPPED AND HEARD THE LNDG ACFT ASK TWR WHY THEY CLRED US FOR TKOF BECAUSE HE WAS 'OVER THE NUMBERS.' ACFT LANDED AND WE THEN DEPARTED WITHOUT FURTHER EVENT.
