Narrative:
I would like to report an near midair collision I had today, apr/thu/02, in the vicinity of the brainerd crow wing county airport. I was on an instrument training flight with one of my students. We had already performed the NDB runway 23 approach into brd and made our intentions known that we were going to perform the VOR 30 approach next. During the procedure turn, I heard a radio call from cessna Y. He stated his position of being 9 mi southeast of the airport and was inbound for landing. I called him back to ask his altitude because he reported a position that was in close proximity to mine. He stated that he was at 2200 ft. I then told him we were turning inbound for our approach and we did not have him in sight. When we crossed over the station he reported that he was 7 mi southeast of the airport. Since we were inside the IAF, which is only 5.2 NM from the airport, I decided to continue our approach because we were in front of him -- or so I thought. I gave a position report of a 3 mi final for runway 30. At this time, cessna Y gave a report that he was on a left base for runway 30. I was initially confused about his position because he had been reporting his position as being behind ours. I called him back and stated we were on a 2 1/2 mi final and did not have him in sight. He called back and said that he did have us in sight and was turning final. He turned final about 1/2 mi in front of us and we were forced to perform a go around, which we did successfully. This whole event described here took place between XA30-XA45 on apr/thu/02. After landing and completing the paperwork for the flight the 2 people from the aircraft were sitting in the lounge area. I approached them and asked them why they had cut in front of me on short final. The older of the 2 men immediately started yelling. He told me that I had no idea who I was talking to and if I did not leave that I would get hurt. I said ok and turned to leave, went outside and copied his tail number down. He followed me to the front desk continuing to shout at the top of his lungs, 'you do not know who you are messing with and if you don't get out of my face I will hurt you.' I have omitted several inflammatory remarks included in his barrage. There were numerous witnesses to these events. He did not give his name or any information about himself. The older man was approximately 40-45 yrs old black male. The younger man was 25-30 years old black male. The aircraft is registered to a mr X from minneapolis. The one point I would like to make is, during the flight, his position reports were not even close to accurate. I was in a C172, aircraft X, less than 5 mi from the airport descending in a better performing aircraft than they were. I was on final approach and had accurately announced my position all the way in. They entered base from the west and cut off my final approach 1/2 mi in front of me after announcing that they had me in sight. This forced me to make evasive maneuvers and go around. That combined with his threats of harming me brings me to make this report.

Title: C172 INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT HAD LESS THAN LEGAL SEPARATION WITH A C150 AT BRD.
Narrative: I WOULD LIKE TO RPT AN NMAC I HAD TODAY, APR/THU/02, IN THE VICINITY OF THE BRAINERD CROW WING COUNTY ARPT. I WAS ON AN INST TRAINING FLT WITH ONE OF MY STUDENTS. WE HAD ALREADY PERFORMED THE NDB RWY 23 APCH INTO BRD AND MADE OUR INTENTIONS KNOWN THAT WE WERE GOING TO PERFORM THE VOR 30 APCH NEXT. DURING THE PROC TURN, I HEARD A RADIO CALL FROM CESSNA Y. HE STATED HIS POS OF BEING 9 MI SE OF THE ARPT AND WAS INBOUND FOR LNDG. I CALLED HIM BACK TO ASK HIS ALT BECAUSE HE RPTED A POS THAT WAS IN CLOSE PROX TO MINE. HE STATED THAT HE WAS AT 2200 FT. I THEN TOLD HIM WE WERE TURNING INBOUND FOR OUR APCH AND WE DID NOT HAVE HIM IN SIGHT. WHEN WE CROSSED OVER THE STATION HE RPTED THAT HE WAS 7 MI SE OF THE ARPT. SINCE WE WERE INSIDE THE IAF, WHICH IS ONLY 5.2 NM FROM THE ARPT, I DECIDED TO CONTINUE OUR APCH BECAUSE WE WERE IN FRONT OF HIM -- OR SO I THOUGHT. I GAVE A POS RPT OF A 3 MI FINAL FOR RWY 30. AT THIS TIME, CESSNA Y GAVE A RPT THAT HE WAS ON A L BASE FOR RWY 30. I WAS INITIALLY CONFUSED ABOUT HIS POS BECAUSE HE HAD BEEN RPTING HIS POS AS BEING BEHIND OURS. I CALLED HIM BACK AND STATED WE WERE ON A 2 1/2 MI FINAL AND DID NOT HAVE HIM IN SIGHT. HE CALLED BACK AND SAID THAT HE DID HAVE US IN SIGHT AND WAS TURNING FINAL. HE TURNED FINAL ABOUT 1/2 MI IN FRONT OF US AND WE WERE FORCED TO PERFORM A GAR, WHICH WE DID SUCCESSFULLY. THIS WHOLE EVENT DESCRIBED HERE TOOK PLACE BTWN XA30-XA45 ON APR/THU/02. AFTER LNDG AND COMPLETING THE PAPERWORK FOR THE FLT THE 2 PEOPLE FROM THE ACFT WERE SITTING IN THE LOUNGE AREA. I APCHED THEM AND ASKED THEM WHY THEY HAD CUT IN FRONT OF ME ON SHORT FINAL. HE DID NOT GIVE HIS NAME OR ANY INFO ABOUT HIMSELF. THE OLDER MAN WAS APPROX 40-45 YRS OLD BLACK MALE. THE YOUNGER MAN WAS 25-30 YEARS OLD BLACK MALE. THE ACFT IS REGISTERED TO A MR X FROM MINNEAPOLIS. THE ONE POINT I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IS, DURING THE FLT, HIS POS RPTS WERE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO ACCURATE. I WAS IN A C172, ACFT X, LESS THAN 5 MI FROM THE ARPT DSNDING IN A BETTER PERFORMING ACFT THAN THEY WERE. I WAS ON FINAL APCH AND HAD ACCURATELY ANNOUNCED MY POS ALL THE WAY IN. THEY ENTERED BASE FROM THE W AND CUT OFF MY FINAL APCH 1/2 MI IN FRONT OF ME AFTER ANNOUNCING THAT THEY HAD ME IN SIGHT. THIS FORCED ME TO MAKE EVASIVE MANEUVERS AND GO AROUND. THAT COMBINED WITH HIS THREATS OF HARMING ME BRINGS ME TO MAKE THIS RPT.
