Narrative:
This incident took place while arriving at ZZZ for a fly-in. After departing the ZZZ holding pattern, I was cleared to approach ZZZ and land runway 9. A midair collision had taken place shortly before and I believe I was the first aircraft allowed to land after the airport reopened. For this event, there are 2 runways -- runway 9L&right. I lined up on runway 9R,. The midair accident aircraft was on the ground on runway 9R and ground personnel were waving me off. At that time tower asked me if I was lined up for runway 9R. I answered 'yes.' he (tower) then cleared me to land. Note: there was also a single engine aircraft just taking off on runway 9L very close to my position. Upon taxiing off, I was met by FAA official who informed me that I had landed on the wrong runway. It appears to me that there may have been considerable confusion after the midair and the many arriving aircraft due to the airport closing for some time. I believe I was the first aircraft released from the holding pattern and was directed to the airport. There was no mention of which runway (left or right) to approach. I chose the normal main runway 9. I thought that even though the accident aircraft was on the approach end that they wanted to get aircraft on the ground. I proceeded for runway 9R and even though I saw the ground personnel waving for a go around, the tower asked my position and still cleared me to land. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: pilot indicated the day before his arrival there had been a fatal midair collision at the airport. Then just before his arrival another midair collision had occurred. He further states that he was on an IFR flight plan, the tower controller took it upon himself to cancel his IFR flight plan without pilot concurrence. It was just canceled. Pilot was then placed in a visual holding pattern around a lake. There was no traffic or altitude separation provided. When cleared from the holding pattern the frequency congestion was so bad that no meaningful communication exchange could occur. Pilot says he will never come to a place like this again. He will plan a landing at an outlying airport and then rent a car.

Title: BE55 PLT WAS GIVEN LNDG CLRNC ON RWY 9. RWY 9L AND RWY 9R WERE NOTAMED IN USE AT THE TIME. PLT LANDED ON RWY 9R, WHICH WAS SUPPOSEDLY CLOSED BECAUSE OF MIDAIR COLLISION WRECKAGE IN THE APCH END OF THE RWY.
Narrative: THIS INCIDENT TOOK PLACE WHILE ARRIVING AT ZZZ FOR A FLY-IN. AFTER DEPARTING THE ZZZ HOLDING PATTERN, I WAS CLRED TO APCH ZZZ AND LAND RWY 9. A MIDAIR COLLISION HAD TAKEN PLACE SHORTLY BEFORE AND I BELIEVE I WAS THE FIRST ACFT ALLOWED TO LAND AFTER THE ARPT REOPENED. FOR THIS EVENT, THERE ARE 2 RWYS -- RWY 9L&R. I LINED UP ON RWY 9R,. THE MIDAIR ACCIDENT ACFT WAS ON THE GND ON RWY 9R AND GND PERSONNEL WERE WAVING ME OFF. AT THAT TIME TWR ASKED ME IF I WAS LINED UP FOR RWY 9R. I ANSWERED 'YES.' HE (TWR) THEN CLRED ME TO LAND. NOTE: THERE WAS ALSO A SINGLE ENG ACFT JUST TAKING OFF ON RWY 9L VERY CLOSE TO MY POS. UPON TAXIING OFF, I WAS MET BY FAA OFFICIAL WHO INFORMED ME THAT I HAD LANDED ON THE WRONG RWY. IT APPEARS TO ME THAT THERE MAY HAVE BEEN CONSIDERABLE CONFUSION AFTER THE MIDAIR AND THE MANY ARRIVING ACFT DUE TO THE ARPT CLOSING FOR SOME TIME. I BELIEVE I WAS THE FIRST ACFT RELEASED FROM THE HOLDING PATTERN AND WAS DIRECTED TO THE ARPT. THERE WAS NO MENTION OF WHICH RWY (L OR R) TO APCH. I CHOSE THE NORMAL MAIN RWY 9. I THOUGHT THAT EVEN THOUGH THE ACCIDENT ACFT WAS ON THE APCH END THAT THEY WANTED TO GET ACFT ON THE GND. I PROCEEDED FOR RWY 9R AND EVEN THOUGH I SAW THE GND PERSONNEL WAVING FOR A GAR, THE TWR ASKED MY POS AND STILL CLRED ME TO LAND. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: PLT INDICATED THE DAY BEFORE HIS ARR THERE HAD BEEN A FATAL MIDAIR COLLISION AT THE ARPT. THEN JUST BEFORE HIS ARR ANOTHER MIDAIR COLLISION HAD OCCURRED. HE FURTHER STATES THAT HE WAS ON AN IFR FLT PLAN, THE TWR CTLR TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO CANCEL HIS IFR FLT PLAN WITHOUT PLT CONCURRENCE. IT WAS JUST CANCELED. PLT WAS THEN PLACED IN A VISUAL HOLDING PATTERN AROUND A LAKE. THERE WAS NO TFC OR ALT SEPARATION PROVIDED. WHEN CLRED FROM THE HOLDING PATTERN THE FREQ CONGESTION WAS SO BAD THAT NO MEANINGFUL COM EXCHANGE COULD OCCUR. PLT SAYS HE WILL NEVER COME TO A PLACE LIKE THIS AGAIN. HE WILL PLAN A LNDG AT AN OUTLYING ARPT AND THEN RENT A CAR.
