Narrative:
While being handed off by ZOB to pit approach, flight attendant informed me by interphone that an elderly lady would not respond (wake up) during the cabin preparation. There was an EMS on board and he tended to the lady with oxygen. She began to respond. I declared an emergency with pit approach and was cleared for the ILS to runway 32 immediately. After acquiring the airport visually, we were cleared for a visual approach to runway 28L. The landing was uneventful and we received immediate clearance to cross runway 28C and to proceed to the gate. Paramedics met us and took over from the EMS. The lady was alert and active by this time. She was given a clean bill of health by the paramedics. Because of the EMS personnel on board and the landing being imminent, medlink was not contacted.
