Narrative:

I was taxing for departure on runway 16. Original instructions were 'taxi to runway 16, hold short runway 20.' while holding at hold line on runway 20 ground instructed 'cross runway 20 hold short runway 16' because of the close proximity of both departure ends I repeated, 'cleared to cross runway 20 to hold short of runway 16!' when I approached runway 16 there was no hold short line. Because the tower couldn't see my position the controller asked if I was on runway 16. I said I was holding short. They told an MD80 to go around because an aircraft was possibly on the runway. With wind out of the south, they normally land airliners on runway 20 while departure off runway 16. If this was ground intent they should have instructed one to 'cross runway 20 and taxi into position and hold on runway 16. Now that I know there's no hold short line for runway 16, I can't accept that clearance in the future.

Title: RIC TWR CTLR SENT AN MD80 AROUND SINCE HE WAS NOT SURE THE RPTR'S PA-28 WAS CLR OF THE RWY, AS THAT ARPT LOCATION COULD NOT BE OBSERVED BY THE TWR CTLRS.

Narrative: I WAS TAXING FOR DEP ON RWY 16. ORIGINAL INSTRUCTIONS WERE 'TAXI TO RWY 16, HOLD SHORT RWY 20.' WHILE HOLDING AT HOLD LINE ON RWY 20 GND INSTRUCTED 'CROSS RWY 20 HOLD SHORT RWY 16' BECAUSE OF THE CLOSE PROXIMITY OF BOTH DEPARTURE ENDS I REPEATED, 'CLRED TO CROSS RWY 20 TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 16!' WHEN I APCHED RWY 16 THERE WAS NO HOLD SHORT LINE. BECAUSE THE TWR COULDN'T SEE MY POSITION THE CTLR ASKED IF I WAS ON RWY 16. I SAID I WAS HOLDING SHORT. THEY TOLD AN MD80 TO GAR BECAUSE AN ACFT WAS POSSIBLY ON THE RWY. WITH WIND OUT OF THE S, THEY NORMALLY LAND AIRLINERS ON RWY 20 WHILE DEP OFF RWY 16. IF THIS WAS GND INTENT THEY SHOULD HAVE INSTRUCTED ONE TO 'CROSS RWY 20 AND TAXI INTO POSITION AND HOLD ON RWY 16. NOW THAT I KNOW THERE'S NO HOLD SHORT LINE FOR RWY 16, I CAN'T ACCEPT THAT CLRNC IN THE FUTURE.
