Narrative:

Both crew members thought gear was extended, but it was not. Flaps were extended to position #3 at about 1200 ft AGL, after which gear not extended alarm and warning occurred. Gear was extended, flaps were extended to full, and final landing checklist was run. Otherwise uneventful landing occurred.

Title: GPWS ALERT GIVEN TO AN A319 FLC WHEN THE FO DELAYS PUTTING THE GEAR DOWN WITH FLAPS SET AT POS #3 ON FINAL APCH FOR RDU, NC.

Narrative: BOTH CREW MEMBERS THOUGHT GEAR WAS EXTENDED, BUT IT WAS NOT. FLAPS WERE EXTENDED TO POS #3 AT ABOUT 1200 FT AGL, AFTER WHICH GEAR NOT EXTENDED ALARM AND WARNING OCCURRED. GEAR WAS EXTENDED, FLAPS WERE EXTENDED TO FULL, AND FINAL LNDG CHKLIST WAS RUN. OTHERWISE UNEVENTFUL LNDG OCCURRED.
