Narrative:
Pulling in to gate in rno, the safety zone was clear so we proceeded in as directed by the marshaller. I proceeded slowly, anticipating the stop. The aircraft stopped in what felt like a rut. The marshaller indicated we still needed 6-8 inches, so I added power to pull up until he indicated we were on the spot. When the jetway failed to pull up to the aircraft and no one came up on headset, I stood in the cockpit window to see what had happened. The jetway was against the #1 engine. As we taxied in, 2 individuals were standing to the immediate right of the marshaller looking toward the jetway and aircraft left wing. Neither gave a stop signal. Supplemental information from acn 544746: I served as the first officer on the flight. We pushed on time, XA45, and arrived at rno 5 mins early. While pulling in to the gate, area, I noted 2 individuals standing to the left (captain's side) of the tug, and 1 marshaller on the tug. The 2 individuals on the ground were blocked from my field of view as we got close to the gate.

Title: A B737-700 STRIKES ITS L ENG COWL AGAINST A JETWAY WHEN PARKING AT THE GATE IN RNO, NV.
Narrative: PULLING IN TO GATE IN RNO, THE SAFETY ZONE WAS CLR SO WE PROCEEDED IN AS DIRECTED BY THE MARSHALLER. I PROCEEDED SLOWLY, ANTICIPATING THE STOP. THE ACFT STOPPED IN WHAT FELT LIKE A RUT. THE MARSHALLER INDICATED WE STILL NEEDED 6-8 INCHES, SO I ADDED PWR TO PULL UP UNTIL HE INDICATED WE WERE ON THE SPOT. WHEN THE JETWAY FAILED TO PULL UP TO THE ACFT AND NO ONE CAME UP ON HEADSET, I STOOD IN THE COCKPIT WINDOW TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. THE JETWAY WAS AGAINST THE #1 ENG. AS WE TAXIED IN, 2 INDIVIDUALS WERE STANDING TO THE IMMEDIATE R OF THE MARSHALLER LOOKING TOWARD THE JETWAY AND ACFT L WING. NEITHER GAVE A STOP SIGNAL. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 544746: I SERVED AS THE FO ON THE FLT. WE PUSHED ON TIME, XA45, AND ARRIVED AT RNO 5 MINS EARLY. WHILE PULLING IN TO THE GATE, AREA, I NOTED 2 INDIVIDUALS STANDING TO THE L (CAPT'S SIDE) OF THE TUG, AND 1 MARSHALLER ON THE TUG. THE 2 INDIVIDUALS ON THE GND WERE BLOCKED FROM MY FIELD OF VIEW AS WE GOT CLOSE TO THE GATE.
